Hi

If anyone can help.... we have a number of Compac t5000 thin clients
running
Windows CE connecting to a Windows 2000 Terminal Server and I need to find
out how to release the CAL token that they have stored locally on the
client
so the TS licensing server can reissue them a new license.

I have done this fine on Win 98, XP etc, basically you delete the subkey
that contains the token in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing\Store\LICENSE00x

Cant find how to do this on Windows CE thin client though.. there is no
Regedit!

Can anyone assist? Hewlett Packard say it can be done but they dont
support
the OS so Microsoft must assist.....

Thanks in advance!

Ash,
There is the obvious question of why you need to release the CALs and if
that goal can be accomplished another way. That said, a quick search on
Google reveals several free registry edit utilities for Windows CE (I can't
recommend any of them since I haven't used them so please use them
carefully).

Why would you want to do this?

Keep in mind that a thin client needs a purchased TS CAL. So if you
delete its stored TS CAL before it expires, you must have another
purchased TS CAL on your TS Licensing Server to issue to the
client.

Note that deleting a temporary TS CAL in order to avoid buying
permanent licenses is a violation of the EULA.
